Volunteer Opportunities

We use volunteers in most areas of our work. All our volunteers have found their time worthwhile, challenging and stimulating. The Kilimanjaro region is very beautiful and many of our volunteers have climbed the mountain. It really is the experience of a lifetime.

Our needs for volunteers change. If you have a skill or would like to help, please contact us and we can discuss the possibilities.

Volunteers for English Language teaching in village schools

If you want to live in an African village community for eight months or more, and want to help the smiling children get a better start in life, then this is the experience for you. We need gap year, post-university or career-break volunteers for this project. We take about eight volunteers each year. You would be teaching basic English in a Tanzanian village primary school, and organising extra-curricular activities of your choice - football, netball, music, drama, art, etc. The schools are 1,500 metres up the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro in the lush countryside below the mountain forest. You would accompany pupils on school outings to a National Park and to the Indian Ocean. In the school holidays you can climb the mountain, visit Zanzibar, or travel further afield. Click here for more information and an application form.

Volunteers to provide teacher training

We need experienced teachers to provide In-Service Training, guiding Tanzanian primary school teachers in their development. Experience of teaching English as a foreign language is of the most use in our programme.
