Katy Allen (right), with Dr Anne Samson (left), recently met the Minister for Education and Vocational Training, the Hon. Professor Jumanne Maghembe, to discuss the recommendations outlined in Katy's paper 'What happened to our good English?', and was invited to join a committeee to research the most suitable teaching materials.

The new Village Crafts Shop sells items made by students at Mshiri Vocational Training School and the Cafe provides welcome refreshment and relaxation for visitors. Susan Lowe and Martine Stevens both returned to volunteer at the school helping with product design and the craft course syllabus.
Sponsorship and Donations
Many thanks to all the people who have raised money for us, including those who have done sponsored climbs of Mount Kilimanjaro. Former VEPK volunteer Ruth Le Breton is running a half-marathon in July to raise money for VEPK - please show your support via her JustGiving page. Another former volunteer Jez Honeywill and fiancée Alice are getting married and inviting donations for VEPK on their JustGiving webpage. Iain Lazenby recently completed the Plymouth Half-Marathon and is inviting sponsorship to raise funds for VEPK and Madaraka Nyerere is undertaking a climb of Kilimanjaro.
